Double Star Small Animal Kennels

Gerbil Page
Babies can be handled
in the first few days
(GERBIL PARENTS
PERMITING!!!)
It all began with the gerbils (although I DID have the
parakeet and Guinea Pig first :). They are the core of
what the kennel has become. I searched the Internet on
care for them and their babies (after not being too sure
about the information I had gotten out of books and from
pet stores) And the deeper I got into the gerbils, the
more I learned about the other "pocket pets" that shared
their world. The gerbils are not too greedy and will let
me talk about the other animals on this website.
I LOVE these little guys and gals, from their sociability
with each other and with people, to the way the WHOLE
family takes care of the new pups!! The are: friendly,
outgoing, curious, and they don't sleep all day :) They
also are extremely "clean" animals. They don't require
baths (although you can give them one and they really
love a good sand-bath). They are desert animals so
they conserve water (that's not to say that they don't
need water at ALL times).
They are an EXCELLENT starter pet. I have had
several people adopt from me recently that were going
to give gerbils as a first pet. They children came with
them to pick out their new "furry family members" and I
was pleasantly surprised at just how much information
they already had researched. The knowledge that is
becoming available out there is aw-inspiring.
Upon completion of the gerbil pages, you will see the
following features on the Navigation Bar (and maybe a
few other things as I get new ideas)

Information on Split Caging gerbils
Oh and did I mention
laid-back. In this pic:
Mom is sitting on Dad's
head and has 2 pups
under her (while the older
litter is nearby).
Double Star's current gerbil breeding goals.
1. Continue the "basic" founder lines.
2. Breed for Extreme Mottleds
3. Concentrate on adding "e" and "g" to
some lines.
We will also breed for Colorpoints, but at this
time, it is not a major goal.
